Unreal Engine 5 is a free download, but it is demanding. The browser Studio means your first success never waits on the install.
Start at Episode 1 to learn the Unreal Editor and Blueprints from scratch. Each episode builds on the last upgrade your skills one node at a time, right through to C++ and multiplayer.
Unreal Engine 5 is completely free. You'll need a powerful-enough computer and the Epic Games Launcher we walk you through setup in Episode 1. Episodes 1-6 use Blueprints only; Episode 7 introduces C++.
Use these free browser tools to plan levels, design characters and create concept art all before you even open Unreal Engine.
Download the Epic Games Launcher, install Unreal Engine 5 for free, then start Episode 1. You'll wire your first Blueprint nodes in under an hour.
Finished here, or just curious? These series are a natural next step, same step-by-step format, bigger games.
