Blender Mod Studio
Build a 3D scene in your browser

A little scene maker for the Blender series. Lay out 3D shapes on a grid, tick the Blender steps you want, read a broken Python log and choose the fix, then download a real bpy script that builds the whole scene for you in Blender.

Make your own art and sounds: draw sprites in Pixel Studio and make music or sound effects in Sound Studio, then bring them into your project.
Ember
Ember says: Blender is free, and it has its own little language, Python. This studio writes a script that builds your scene: it adds the shapes, the light and the camera for you. Your work saves automatically.

Lay out your scene

Pick an object below, then click squares on the grid to place it. Put the Player where you start and a Goal at the end. Click a square again, or use the eraser, to remove it.

Objects

Your scene so far

Each shape becomes an object in your Blender scene. The mini map below is a bird's eye view of where they sit.

What is in the scene

    Add scripts

A step is a little bit of Blender Python that runs when the script does. Tick the ones you want and the Studio writes them. Start with Colour material and Sun light so your scene looks good.

    Your scripts

Each ticked step is written into your build_scene.py script.

    Name your project

    Live preview

This is your build_scene.py script. Every shape you place becomes a line that adds it to the scene.

    โœ… Ready check

A Blender script runs cleanly if all of these are true. The Studio fills most of them in for you.

How this maps to real Blender

build_scene.py is a Blender Python script: it adds your shapes with bpy.ops.

Materials give each object a colour using a Principled BSDF node.

Light and camera make the scene ready to render or animate.

Keyframes make an object spin when you play the animation.

Run it: open Blender, go to the Scripting tab, open build_scene.py and press Run Script.

      The Blender log

Click the red line, then choose the fix. Plain lines are normal.

      What is the fix?

      Download your project

This bundles everything into a zip: build_scene.py and a README. Open Blender, go to the Scripting tab, open the script and press Run Script.
