A little project maker for the Java series. Lay out a 2D game on a grid, tick the Java methods you want, read a broken compiler log and choose the fix, then download a real Swing Java project you can run with the free JDK on any computer.

Each object becomes a shape your Java program draws on the window. The mini map below is a bird's eye view of where they sit in the game.
A method is Java code your game calls every frame. Tick the ones you want and the Studio writes them. Start with Player move so you can move, and Coin collect so collecting does something.
Each ticked method is written into your project's Main.java.
This is your Main.java file. Every object becomes a shape and every ticked method is added to the class.
A Java project compiles cleanly if all of these are true. The Studio fills most of them in for you.
Main.java is the whole program: a window, a timer and your methods.
JFrame and JPanel make the window and the drawing surface.
Timer runs actionPerformed many times a second, which is the game loop.
paintComponent draws every object as a coloured rectangle.
Run it: javac Main.java then java Main, or use the run script. Any free JDK works.
Click the red line, then choose the fix. Plain lines are normal.
This bundles everything into a zip: Main.java, a run.bat and run.sh, and a README. Unzip it, then either double-click the run script or run javac Main.java and java Main.
